Atlanta/Ft. McPherson Center
Robert Lolley '82- Atlanta/Ft. McPherson Center, most enjoyed becoming very good friends with one of his instructors, Lt. Charles Litchfield. He chose to go to Saint Leo University because it was a good school and the only place that offered a Criminology degree. Saint Leo opened doors for him to get more degrees and it was very convenient. He enjoyed his Saint Leo experience.
Susie Boswell Curington '92- Atlanta/Ft. McPherson, remembers her statistics teacher because he made the class very interesting and a fun place to learn.
Center for Online Learning
Cynthia Hunter '04- Center for Online Learning, shared her fondest memory as the conversations and interaction that took place through chat rooms as the thing that connected professors and students. She most enjoyed her art class which enabled her to study different genres.
Fort Eustis Center
Martin Walsh '99- Fort Eustis Center, liked St. Leo because the staff and instructors were very accommodating in working through scheduling and class work issues caused by conflicts with work and personal life commitments. You were treated as a person and not just another student.
Gainesville Center
Richard Devlin '00- Gainesville Center, loves Saint Leo because of the opportunities that it provides. HIs favorite professor was Dr. Hynes who taught business courses. He currently owns a Financial Services Company in Gainesville, FL.
Holy Name Academy
Laura Monteil Urban '33- Holy Name Academy enjoyed her time as a member of the women's basketball team. She remains in contact with Sister Helen to this day.
Hunter Center
Wanda Meier '94- Hunter Center had a great experience at Saint Leo and would recommend it to other people. She went back to school after her husband retired from the military. She said that her degree lead her to receive promotions over the years.
Langley Center
Douglas Carl '79- Langley Center, said the regional center was very helpful and convenient while he was in the Air Force. He enjoyed his Saint Leo education. His degree in Business Administration helped promote him while in the Air Force and also helped him to start his own business.
Adrienne MacQueen '06- Langley Center, enjoyed a Christian Morality class that she took noting the great discussions the class would have.
MacDill Center
Ann Towne '84- MacDill Center, remembers that Saint Leo helped her in her career. She has watched the college expand and grow over the years.
Carl French '86- MacDill Center enjoyed completing his degree because of the availability the university provided him while on site at the military base.
Myrtle Beach Center
Rae Sarver '88- Myrtle Beach Center, enjoyed her entire experience at Saint Leo; the students, professors and timing of the classes were great.
Jose Bolivar '44- Saint Leo Prep, recalled all of the great friends he made while he was here and how he used to spend holidays with his friends' families. He said that it was pleasant because he was able to share a connection with people other than his immediate family. It was this "close knit" community aspect that was so important to his experience. He believes it is rare to find this type of connection in today's society.
San Diego Naval Station Office
Howard Widden '79- San Diego Naval Station Office, said Saint Leo was the only school that provided me with a firm curriculum for me to finish my degree. I had to move quite often and Saint Leo was the only university that allowed me to complete my degree while traveling.
South Hampton Roads Center
Stephen Tolbert '00- South Hampton Roads Center, said that his favorite teacher was his religion teacher, Sister Mary Fran.
University Campus
Rodney Williamson '67- University Campus, said that he has many fond memories of Saint Leo but his favorite memory was meeting his wife Ruth (Seyfried). Both were members of the first class to graduate from the four year College program in 1967. He remembers having around sixty plus members in the graduating class. Rodney played baseball for the 'Monarchs' during his freshman and sophomore years and Ruth was a cheerleader. They married following their junior year in 1966 and one of the Abbey monks (Father Placid) presided over their wedding ceremony. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Sigma and president of the Student Government Association. Ruth was a member of Alpha Sigma and active in student government as well. They've stayed in touch with the University and attended their 40th Class Reunion in October '07.
Joseph Ciliano '69- University campus shared his favorite memory of being a member of the 1969 baseball team that defeated Florida State University, University of Florida and University of Miami. While at Saint Leo he majored in Physical Education. He recently retired after teaching physical education and coaching for 32 years. He said he really enjoyed his time here at Saint Leo.
Denise Frick Winter '69- University Campus, said that while extracurricular like the Student Government Association and the Alpha Sigma Sorority allowed her to make lifelong friends, it was the learning environment that she perhaps appreciates the most. The academic programs at St. Leo prepared her to rise through the educational ranks of the Chicago Public School System where she served as a teacher and administrator for over 35 years.
Richard Bonazzoli '70- University Campus, remembers Greek Weekends and the parties he attended as a member of Phi Theta Chi Fraternity from 1965-present. His favorite professors were Brother Jerome and Father Stephen-(President) He loves Saint Leo University dearly.
Charles Kelly '70- University Campus, said that his best memory was returning to campus and seeing the growth that has occurred. He was so happy that his daughter chose to attend Saint Leo as well; she graduated in 2001 then worked in the Admissions Office for several years. She is currently a teacher in Tampa.
Peter Leinenweber '70- University Campus, said his favorite memories are of trips taken as a member of the Monarchs soccer team. They were one of the smallest soccer teams, but they traveled to big schools like University of Florida, Florida State and Georgia Tech and had lots of fun. Another favorite memory was with the karate instructor, Mike Foster. He would have them practice by the lake early on Saturday morning and one time a turtle crawled up a bud’s back and bit him.
Mary Cannon Cabot '71- University Campus, said her most memorable experience was when she met her husband, Bob '71.
Homer Ellis '71- University Campus, loved the entire staff in the music department. His favorite professors were Earl Grauer & John Higgins. After teaching Band for thirty years he retired and took the position of Technology Coordinator at the same school. He is in his fifth year as Technology Coordinator.
Vincent Harmon '75- University Campus, and his wife, Marilyn, were one of the first married couples to live on campus in Lee Marvin Hall (now Henderson Hall since 1980.) There was a married couple in each of the dorms to supervise students, and he and his wife were the Resident Advisors (R.A.s) for their building.
Ralph Pandolfe '76- University Campus, has tons of wonderful memories of Saint Leo. Every person at Saint Leo was great and believes he had a transformational experience here. His friends, classmates, and instructors all made a difference. One of his best memories was of being on the karate team and learning from Sensei Foster and Sensei Yamamoto.
Maureen McGeehan Wickert '77/G'99- University Campus, was involved in student government, intramurals and Greek life when she was a full time undergraduate student. Her favorite teacher was Maura Snyder. She returned to complete her Master's Degree through the Weekend & Evening Program.
Richard Barrella '78- University Campus, was a member of Alpha Sigma Chi when he was a student at Saint Leo. He now serves on the Alumni Board which has him on campus for quarterly meetings. He majored in political science and history, and until recently owned his own business in litigation support. He is happy his daughter attends Saint Leo now and is a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority.
Carl Moeller '79- University Campus, said his best memory was being a member of the football team- his team mates, traveling, all the fun they had - the whole experience was great.
Sara Seigler Kreglo '80- University Campus, really enjoyed the small campus and the helpful faculty. She was an elementary education major and Dr. Neil Troost stands out in her mind. He taught the Science in Elementary Schools course and was very fond of the "Discovery Method" of learning. This was a new idea at the time and now it is considered part of Best Practices in teaching. "You could say St. Leo was ahead of its time." Saint Leo did a good job preparing her to be the person she is today; she is a teacher and loves it.
Lee Lawrence '81- University Campus, said her favorite memories of Saint Leo are going to such a small school and being close to everyone, knowing lots of people. Always felt at home and welcomed. She had friends from day one. Lee "wanted to spend her whole life here."
Georgette Romero '83- University Campus, remembers pledging Delta Phi Delta. She believes that Saint Leo's position as a small private school is a positive feature, and talking point for her career.
Michael Henriquez '86- University Campus, played baseball and was a member of Kappa Theta. He said is seems like yesterday that he was creating all of his fond memories. He had a lot of fun and still cherishes these times.
Jill Bordonaro Jordan'86- University Campus, tells everyone that she made friends for life at Saint Leo.
Zenith Taylor '88- University Campus smiles each time she thinks of her time at Saint Leo and the lasting friendships that she made while here. She loved that Saint Leo was so diverse and that there were students from many different races and creeds. The small classes allowed for meaningful discussions and debates which she enjoyed very much. She remembers Dr. Reynolds and Dr. Cernik specifically. She said that Saint Leo made her a strong person.
Christina Cirillo '90- University Campus, said her favorite memory is being in college! She made good friends at Saint Leo and always had a lot of fun. As a dance major she loved walking across campus in her leg warmers after dance practice and eating rice crispies swirled in ice cream.
Josephine Carbone Perry '90- University Campus, said that Harry Purchase, Hospitality Management, was her favorite professor because he taught his students things that were not in the textbooks and shared experiences from his career. He taught Hospitality management.
Wendy Koenitzer Knack '95- University Campus, enjoyed the science courses that she took at Saint Leo, remembering specifically her genetics and chemistry classes. She is currently using her degree as a clinical lab scientist.
Cicily Santora, LCSW '95- University Campus, remembers the friendships that she made were important to her. She lived on campus in Marion Snyder then Henderson Halls. She is a counselor at the Hospice at the Florida Sun coast.
Mary Narciso '00- University Campus, enjoyed her time as a member of the women's volleyball team and Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. She enjoyed her classes led by Dr. Spoto and Dr. Dooris. Mary currently works for Siemens, a biotech company, and is still involved with volleyball as a competitive player and coach.
Weekend and Evening Program
Marion Prinse '82- Weekend and Evening Program, said that she is very proud to have attended Saint Leo. She appreciated that she was able to do so many of the courses off-campus, as she was balancing work, children and caring for an ill parent. Saint Leo makes it possible for a lot of people to finish their degree through weekend and evening classes. She really appreciates the experience.
Ann M. Smith '90- Weekend & Evening Program, had a wonderful experience when she attended Saint Leo in Daytona Beach, FL. The teachers were great, very professional and encouraged development of projects that pertained to our jobs; this was wonderful learning. Her degree was in Health Care Administration and Saint Leo prepared her to be a leader and she obtained management positions at her job. She became Director of the Education Department of the HMO/PPO Florida Health Care Insurance Division of the Halifax Health System and presently is the Oncology Education Coordinator for the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona. St Leo's experiences also opened the doors for leadership opportunities in the Oncology Nursing Society and American Cancer Society. She had great support from her husband and four sons 17, 15, 11, and 9 at the time and she was determined she would obtain her degree before her oldest child graduated from high school in 1991 (and she did!!) The whole family attended her graduation.
Joyce Warren '91- Weekend & Evening Program, worked at Saint Leo for 25 years. She says she met wonderful people during her time here and was able to take classes as well. Saint Leo has an atmosphere that you can't find anywhere else. She said her degree was an accomplishment that couldn't have been done without the entire wonderful professor that she had and it is something she will never forget.
Linda Church '96- Weekend & Evening Master's Program, believes her MBA degree is of great value to her. While completing her degree, she also worked for President Kirk. Walking across the stage and receiving her diploma from an admirable figure as both a colleague and president left her with fond memories. She also loves being able to step foot on campus, and the ease in which memories come to her. She is excited with the university's growth.
Phyllis Shaffer '98- Weekend and Evening Program, shared that getting her diploma was the best part of attending Saint Leo. She said the Weekend and Evening Program allowed her to meet a lot of people and she did not find not being a traditional student difficult. She is retired now, but her degree helped her greatly when she was working.
Michele Timmer '98- Weekend and Evening Program, recalls her best memory as the camaraderie she gained with the other weekend students.
Karyn Cauthen '99/G’07- Weekend and Evening Program, recalled her favorite professors from the MAPS program included Dr. Imperato, Father Michael Cooper and Dr. Tkacik. She is currently retired.
