Scholarships and Other Endowment Funds
Opening the doors of learning for Saint Leo University students is one of the most compelling reasons many alumni, parents, faculty, and staff give back. Scholarships are wonderful expressions of any contributor's desire to actively participate in the work of the University.
Endowed scholarships give Saint Leo University enhanced flexibility in directing scholarship funding to the most deserving students with the greatest needs.
The Annual Fund and permanent endowment funds are the primary sources of scholarship assistance for Saint Leo students. Endowed funds usually honor individual donors and family members, or in some instances, beloved faculty members.
A gift of $10,000 can create a permanent named scholarship fund at Saint Leo University which will provide an annual award of $500. Students will receive the benefit of your generosity and learn about you, their benefactor, or the person you intend to honor by the naming of your scholarship fund. Your philanthropy will do wonderful educational work long after we are gone, in fact, for as long as there is a Saint Leo University.
Endowment
Endowed funds are established by making an initial gift and signing an endowment agreement which sets out the conditions governing the way the annual proceeds of your fund can be used. The agreement will govern the terms by which the scholarship will be awarded. To become permanent, Saint Leo endowment funds must be fully funded within five years. Scholarships can be awarded once the fund has reached the minimum funding level.
Endowed funds can be used to generate income for the University's needs, such as the acquisition of library resources, the maintenance and improvement of Saint Leo's buildings and grounds, the improvement of Saint Leo's technical resources, and, in fact, any purpose which would otherwise require the use of the University's operating funds or gifts received through the Annual Fund.
